We are pleased to announce Yuki Hikawa's solo art exhibition THE DOOR TO H ---somewhat comedy--- at Yokohama Creativecity Center (Naka-ku, Yokohama City) on view Jan 14, 2015 through Jan 20, 2015.
In the late 80’s Yuki Hikawa worked in advertizing as an art director in New York.
After moving back toJapan she has started her mixed media art project “Drawing In Stiches” where she expressed her dailyemotions with needlework.
From early on she has applied needlework across the multi layers of printand paint on self crafted canvas of wood and fabric, which has resulted in creating the uniquely threedimensional texture.
In 2011 when her new year’s resolution was to stay calm she has started Mortal Desire fragment serieswhich was inspired by the inhibitory mechanism of human mind.
As its prologue she showed What Do You Love in ULTRA005 (EMERGING DIRECTOR’S ART FAIRheld at Spiral Garden in Tokyo) in October 2012 and its unique texture and size(exceeding 2m) made asplash.
This upcoming show THE DOOR TO H which is the second act of Mortal Desire is composed of twodimensional work, three dimensional work and moving image and will be exhibited in the theme ofDante's Divine Comedy.
The venue of the show Yokohama Creativecity Center is the landmarked building which used toYokohama Branch of the former Daiichi Bank.
